Your Child is in Great Hands

Philosophy

Philosophy: “Creative Wholistic Care” Our philosophy stems from the importance of art, music and outdoor play during developing years. It is well documented that engagement with the arts and with play enables the child to learn and process problem solving and critical thinking skills. In the times before and after school it is critical to create an environment where the child can absorb what they have processed at school and at home and provide a safe a creative environment to explore music and the arts. By learning an instrument, singing or dancing we create pathways in our brain that foster growth in general knowledge. Our program will include instrument instruction, such as ukulele, piano, voice and drums as well as an opportunity for performance. Performing and presenting accomplishments in music can grow self esteem and help the child to prepare for adulthood. By engaging with a child’s creative side the child learns to problem solve and engage with the environment in a healthy way. We would provide opportunities to paint, play with clay, knit and other arts and crafts in a free form style as well as a structured style. By having a structured style of art we can foster the ability to follow directions and ask questions. Our facility is a spiritual space. Activities may include Christian practices such as giving thanks for food and creation and singing Christian songs such as Christmas Carols. We will be willing to participate in a Childs exploration, wonder and questions of faith and practice. If a child and/ or a family practices a faith tradition other than Christian we are willing to welcome and explore that tradition also. There will be no requirement for the child to participate in any activity. In the times before and after school it is critical to create an environment where the child can absorb what they have processed at school and at home and provide a safe a creative environment to explore music, the arts and their own spirituality.
